Gaining (and sharing) experience

Hi, I’m Lisa. I’m the wife of an apple farmer and the mom of four. I’ve worked as a Physician Assistant in Michigan for 19 years, and love taking care of my patients, but my family will always come first. I wanted to be a mom from a young age, and having a family was always my most important goal in life. I’ve been a mom for 14 years now and my favorite part of my day is always the time I spend with my family.

They say to enjoy the time with your kids, because it will be over before you know it. And as a mom who had 4 kids within 5 years, I can tell you that it’s not always easy to enjoy it. Kids are messy, loud, frustrating and exhausting. I read a statement when my kids were young, and I try to remember it regularly to keep me focused. “The days of motherhood are long, but the years are short.” This is so true. Some days feel like they’ll never end, like when your kids have the stomach flu, or your daughter gets lice. But even though each individual day can feel long and draining, suddenly your oldest is 14 (like mine) and wants to spend more and more time with her friends, and less and less time with her family. So I try to remind myself regularly to keep focused on what’s really important.

I love (almost) everything that comes with being a mom, and love reading recipes, organizing ideas and tips from other moms and thought I would share some too. I’m not an expert by any means, but with experience comes wisdom, so I thought I’d share some of the wisdom and ideas I’ve accrued over 21 years as a wife and 14 years as a mom.
